Rocío is a Mexican-American actress and singer-songwriter. She is originally from the farming community of Guadalupe, California where she sang and performed with Righetti High School's Marimba Band & Ballet Folklórico. Her influences range from musicals to mariachi, from Nina Simone to Juan Gabriel. After winning the radio singing contest Voces de Santa Maria, for which the prize was a fully-produced album, Rocío got to open for Dareyes de la Sierra and Banda El Mexicano. 

 

Rocío attended UCLA, where she founded and directed A Night of Cultura and performed with LASA's Salsa Troupe. While attending grad school at NYU, Rocío wrote, produced and performed with pop girl group, SHE. After the group disbanded, Rocío took a break from music and focused on theatre, film/tv, and teaching. Recently, she played the lead role of Della in the historic revival of Zoot Suit, directed by Luis Valdez at The Mark Taper Forum in Los Angeles. She was selected to perform in the CBS Diversity Showcase 2018 and was recently in the shows Insecure (HBO), Vida (Starz) and Modern Family (ABC). 

 

Last year, Rocío auditioned for the highly-rated Spanish TV show Tengo Talento Mucho Talento and made it to the semi-finals as a singer-songwriter. The judges, Pepe Garza, Ana Barbara, Joss Favela, and Don Cheto, praised her talent as a composer and urged her to record her music for the whole world to hear. 

 

Rocío has been working on her upcoming album, De Sombra a Luz -a multi-genre Spanish language album. She has released 3 singles, Escapar, Malo, and Mariposas. To date, her videos on youtube, including her performance videos from Tengo Talento show, have almost 1 million views.
